Roosevelt Hunter slipped into eternity

Roosevelt H. Hunter Jr. was born to Roosevelt Sr. and Leslie Hunter in Detroit, Michigan on November 30, 1963.  The family (four boys and a girl) grew up in Inkster, Michigan where Roosevelt excelled as the athlete in the family.  "7Q" as he was called played football, basketball and baseball in his junior and senior high school years.

Roosevelt always had favor on his life, even before becoming a Christian.  He had many friends. Coaches and other leaders were taken by him and embraced him.  In addition to his athleticism, he was also a drummer and went on to play in a local band even hosting great parties, before he got saved of course. He had no idea that one day he would use this musical gift for God.

Roosevelt gave his life to the Lord in 1983 at age 20.  He immediately connected with Westland Assembly of God Church and began to grow.  It quickly became apparent that there was an extraordinary call on his life. He participated in Royal Rangers and soon doors began to open for him to preach. Roosevelt was ushered into God's accelerated program as he began to speak locally and nationally. After travelling to Finland and living for a short time in Alaska he settled back in Detroit as a founding Co-Pastor of Revival Tabernacle. Before long he knew it would be time to find that special person to walk with him while fulfilling his destiny.

On February 21, 1991, while he preached at Central Bible College he met a special young lady in a polka dot dress named Eileen Victorino.  After having conviction that she was the one, they married on June 6, 1993. Eileen has been an awesome companion and lover, warrior and friend, co laborer and life partner to Roosevelt. Together they have two beautifully gifted children, Trinity Joy and Israel David.  Roosevelt believed in family, in working hard, and in playing hard.

Roosevelt has had the awesome privilege of being mentored by Pastor David Wilkerson in New York City, Pastor Denny Duron in Shreveport Louisiana, Dr. Mark Rutland at Southeastern University, Pastor Wayne Blackburn in Lakeland, FL and Dr. Billy Graham world Evangelist. He has had hands laid on him for blessing and impartation by Dr. David Yongi Cho, Pastor Ceasar Castalleno, Bishop T.D. Jakes, and Evangelist Rinehart Bonke.  Throughout his humanitarian travels he met Alan Keys, Donald Trump, Kirk Franklin, Bishop Eddie Long and Oprah Winfrey.

Over the past 16 years, Roosevelt has been an international communicator and humanitarian in over 27 different countries on 6 continents sharing a message of love, hope, and redemption.  He has flown nearly 2 million air miles speaking to churches, corporations, universities, non profit organizations and professional athletes.  He has served in awesome ministries at Holland First Assembly, Victory Church, Southeastern University and most recently at Harvest Family Church.  Truly God used this street kid in an awesome way as he ministered to other kids in Christian camps all over the world.

Since his promotion into heaven, he leaves family and friends the charge to live life at the highest possible level in God; Eileen Hunter (wife), Trinity Joy (daughter) Israel David (son), Darlene Dickson (sister), Paul (Val) Hunter (brother), Joseph Hunter (brother), and Jeffrie (Maria) Hunter (brother), Eugenye Metaye (half sister), Nora Victorino (Mother-in-law) nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, an enormous church family and loved ones all around the world.  Roosevelt Sr. and Leslie (parents) preceded him to heaven and welcomed him home on August 10, 2009.

Visitation will be conducted Saturday from 9-11 a.m. at Victory Church, 1401 Griffin Rd., Lakeland, FL 33810. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the church, with interment to follow at Serenity Gardens.

Roosevelt's funeral was held on Saturday, August 15th, 2009 at Victory Church in Lakeland, Florida.

In lieu of flowers, Roosevelt's great wishes would be that all would give to Oasis of Hope (a hospital that is effectively curing cancer).
